Grupo Asur or Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (ASUR) is planning to develop a new light train systems from Cancun to Tulum in Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico.
The project involves the construction of 130km long Cancun to Tulum light train system, terminals, stations, platforms, parking spaces, overpasses and underpasses and related infrastructure, and the installation of railway lines, electrical and electronic systems, safety and security measures and signalling systems.
State government of Quintana Roo will invest US$3 million to complete the study works for this project through Secretary of Infrastructure and Transport (SINTRA). Spanish government owned railway companies Ferrocarriles Españoles de Vía Estrecha (Feve) and Renfe Operadora have been appointed as contractors to conduct the prefeasibility studies for this project.
Quintana Roo government expressed interest to develop this project.
The project involves the construction of a light rail system between Cancun and Tulum, Quintana Roo province, Mexico.
