Aspen/Pitkin County Airport (ASE) is planning to undertake an expansion of existing airport facility in Colorado, the US.
The project involves the expansion of 7,432m2 area at the existing airport. It includes the construction of a new two-story commercial terminal with eight boarding gates, access roads, 750 space underground parking garage, additional 550 parking spaces and the installation of elevators, safety and security systems.
The fixed-base operation (FBO) terminal would be demolished under the master plan and relocated elsewhere on the east side.
ASE anticipates awarding a contract for study of ground transportation to TG Malloy Consulting of Glenwood Springs.
In October 2015, the project proposal was approved by the Pitkin County Board of Commissioners.
In July 2016, environmental assessment on the project are underway.
As of February 2017, review on the second half of the environmental assessment studies are underway.
On June 17, 2017, ASE issued bids for construction of outbound baggage handling system with the submission due date as June 27, 2017.
