Administração dos Portos do Douro e Leixões (APDL) is planning to undertake the construction of a new container terminal at port do Leixoes, Portugal.
The project involves the construction of a container terminal with a capacity of more than 400,000 TEUs per year, a dock area, a terminal area, parking facilities, and berths. The New Container Terminal will have a berth with a length of 515m and a land surface of 15ha.
The new container terminal will have the capacity to receive ships with 300m length, 40m mouth, and 13.5m draft.
APDL plans to develop the new terminal under a public-private partnership agreement.
Consulmar is responsible for Preliminary and Environmental Impact Study.
Construction work is expected to start by 2019.
