The Agence Nationale de l’Aviation Civile, Benin (ANAC), plans to construct an international airport in Cotonou, Benin.
The project involves the construction of an international airport on 3,028ha of land. It includes the construction of runway of 4,250m length, a width of 60m and 7.50m shoulders on each side, passenger terminal, boarding gates, retail facilities, the waiting lounges, control rooms, an office building and other related facilities, and the installation of security systems.
Belgium Airport Consultants (BEAC) appointed as the developer.
In December 2004, BEAC issued tenders for technical and economic feasibility study consultant and STUDI International was appointed as study consultant.
On August 24, 2006, the study report was submitted to ANAC.
On December 13, 2011, a foundation stone laid at the project site.
In July 2015, the Government of South Africa and Benin signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop the project.
ANAC is in negotiations with China Aviation Industry Corporation (AVIC) to develop the project.
The project involves the construction of an international airport on 3,028ha of land at Glo Djigbé, 40km away from Cotonou, Benin.
The US$3,300 million project includes the following:
1. Construction of a passenger terminal
2. Construction of 4,250m length runway
3. Construction of boarding gates
4. Construction of retail facilities
5. Construction of waiting lounges

7. Construction of an office building
