Advocate Health Care (AHC) is planning to undertake the expansion of Emergency Department project at Advocate Christ Medical Center in south suburban Oak Lawn, Illinois, the US.

The project involves the expansion of an emergency department by adding 32 beds thereby increasing the total bed capacity to 82. It is being implemented in two phases.

The project includes the modernization and expansion of the medical center’s Level I trauma and resuscitation center from eight to 12 rooms, the upgrade of adult and pediatric emergency stations from the current 42 to 70 stations, the improvements to the parking area near the trauma entrances to the emergency department, the construction of covered garage to accommodate up to 10 ambulances and emergency vehicles and other related facilities, and the installation of safety and security systems.

In November 2014, AHC submitted the planning application to the Illinois Health Facilities Services and Review Board and on January 27, 2015, the board approved the project.

In March 2017, The expansion of pediatric emergency department has been completed.

Planning activities are underway for the adult emergency department.

The US$86 million project includes the following:
