Algonquin Gas Transmissions (AGT), a unit of Spectra Energy, is undertaking the gas pipeline project from New York-to-Boston corridor, the US.
The project involves the construction and replacement of 60.1km of pipeline in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York and Rhode Island. It includes the following:
(i) replacing 32.3km, in three segments, of the 26-inch-diameter pipeline with the 42-inch-diameter pipeline in Putnam, Rockland, and Westchester Counties, New York, and Fairfield County, Connecticut.
(ii) installing 3.2km of 36-inch-diameter pipeline looping in Middlesex and Hartford Counties, Connecticut.
(iii) replacing 14.6km of the 6-inch-diameter pipeline with the 16-inch-diameter pipeline on the E-1 System Lateral in New London County, Connecticut.
(iv) installing 2km of 12-inch-diameter pipeline looping in New London County, Connecticut
(v) installing 6.5km of 16-inch-diameter pipeline and 1.2km of 24-inch-diameter pipeline off its existing I-4 System Lateral in Norfolk and Suffolk Counties, Massachusetts
It includes the addition of 81,620 horsepower (hp) of compression at six compressor stations in New York, Connecticut, and Rhode Island.
In September 2014, Eversource Energy has been appointed as an associate developer.
In February 2015, National Grid Plc has been appointed as an associate developer.
In November 2015, AGT requested FERC to grant permission for the pre-filing review on the Access Northeast project.
Construction works are underway and are scheduled to complete by 2018.
The project involves the upgrade of 60.1km of the pipeline from New York to Boston, the US.
