Abu Qir Fertilizers and Chemical Industries Company (AFC), Phosphate Misr Company (Phosphate Misr), and Egypt Kuwait Holding Company (EKH) are planning to build a phosphate and compound fertilizer complex in New Valley Governorate, Egypt.

The project involves the construction of a phosphate and compound fertilizer complex with a production capacity of 500,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) of phosphoric acid and phosphate fertilizers. The project is planned to be implemented in two phases.

The project includes the construction of a triple superphosphate facility and a double ammonium phosphate facility with the capacity of 350,000TPA each, a production unit, a storage facility, a packaging unit, a distribution unit, an administrative building and related facilities and the installation of machinery and safety systems.

In October 2012, AFC and Phosphate Misr signed a cooperation protocol for the implementation of the project.

In February 2015, AFC signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Phosphate Misr and EKH for the project development.

Worley Parsons Company has been appointed as a feasibility consultant.

On July 4, 2015, the feasibility study completed.

Planning activities are underway. First stage will be completed in the 2018/2019 fiscal year and the second phase in the financial year 2021.

Scope

The project involves the construction of a phosphate and compound fertilizer complex with a production capacity of 500,000TPA of phosphoric acid in Abu Tartur, New Valley Governorate, Egypt.

The US$1,200 million project includes the following:

1. Construction of 350,000TPA triple superphosphate facility

2. Construction of 350,000TPA double ammonium phosphate facility

3. Construction of a production unit

4. Construction of a storage facility

5. Construction of a packaging unit

6. Construction of a distribution unit

7. Construction of an administrative building

8. Installation of machinery and safety systems
