Summary

AES Southland LLC (AES) is planning to undertake the construction of an energy plant in California, the US.

The project involves the construction of a 496MW natural gas power plant on 5.21ha of land. It includes the construction of a gas storage facility, combustion chambers, a powerhouse, substations, a cooling tower and related facilities, the installation of generators and turbines, and the laying of transmission lines.

The project includes the installation of three-on-one, combined-cycle gas turbine power block with three natural-gas-fired combustion turbine generators (CTG), three supplemental-fired heat recovery steam generators (HRSG), one steam turbine generator (STG), an air-cooled condenser, and related ancillary equipment.

In November 2012, AES submitted an Application for Certification (AFC) to the California Energy Commission (CEC) seeking permission to construct and operate.

On August 20, 2014, AES filed a notice of suspension of AFC.

In March 2015, the ballot box measure failed.

In May 2015, Processing of the AFC commenced again.
