AES Southland LLC (AES) is planning to undertake the construction of an energy plant in California, the US.
The project involves the construction of a 496MW natural gas power plant on 5.21ha of land. It includes the construction of a gas storage facility, combustion chambers, a powerhouse, substations, a cooling tower and related facilities, the installation of generators and turbines, and the laying of transmission lines.
The project includes the installation of three-on-one, combined-cycle gas turbine power block with three natural-gas-fired combustion turbine generators (CTG), three supplemental-fired heat recovery steam generators (HRSG), one steam turbine generator (STG), an air-cooled condenser, and related ancillary equipment.
In November 2012, AES submitted an Application for Certification (AFC) to the California Energy Commission (CEC) seeking permission to construct and operate.
On August 20, 2014, AES filed a notice of suspension of AFC.
In March 2015, the ballot box measure failed.
In May 2015, Processing of the AFC commenced again.
On November 6, 2015, AES and the City of Redondo Beach requested CEC for another case suspension until August 1, 2016.
On August 12, 2016, AES and City of Redondo Beach filed an application with CEC for extension of the suspension of the approval until February 1, 2017.
As of July 2017, AES is searching for partners to develop the project.
The project involves construction of a 496MW natural gas power plant on 5.21ha of land in 1100 North Harbor Drive, Redondo Beach, California, the US.
