Agnico-Eagle Mines Limited (AEM) and Yamana Gold Inc. (YRI) are undertaking the development of a gold mine in Atikokan, Ontario, Canada.
The project involves the development of a gold mine with a production capacity of 21.9MTPA on 31,145ha of land. It includes the construction, development, and operation of surface and underground open pit gold mine and related infrastructure facilities.
The project also includes the construction of a processing plant with a capacity of 50,000 tons per day (TPD), access roads, administration buildings, 200-person camp, a 35km transmission line and related facilities, and the installation of machinery, safety and security systems.
SGS Canada Inc. has been appointed as a technical consultant; Golder Associates Ltd as a study consultant; G Mining Services Inc. as an engineering consultant, Roscoe Postle Associates, Inc. as a geotechnical consultant.
On December 20, 2011, a technical report was prepared by Osisko.
On January 23, 2012, the report was submitted.
On July 4, 2012, project approvals were received.
In 2013, a feasibility study report was presented.
On January 17, 2014, an Environmental Assessment (EA) report was submitted.
As of June 2017, AEM and YRI are awaiting EA approvals.
