Adani Group (ADANIENT) is planning to build a thermal power plant in Surguja, Chhattisgarh, India.
The project involves the construction of a 6000MW (4X150MW) power plant on 47.5 ha of land. It includes the construction of a powerhouse, a substation, cooling units, access roads and related infrastructure, the installation of turbines, gas-fired generators and transformers, and the laying of transmission lines.
In December 2015, the residents of nearly 10 villages have opposed the project plans and a public hearing was canceled.
In August 2016, Environment Clearance was approved.
As of February 2017, feasibility studies completed, RRVUNL has approved 47.5 ha of the land required for setting up the power plant.
It is estimated that the first unit would be put into commercial operation in about 27 months reckoned from the Zero Date, which shall be defined as the start of construction activities at site. Subsequently, the second, third and fourth units will be put into commercial operation in 33, 39 and 45 months respectively.
