Mubadala Aerospace (Mubadala) and Abu Dhabi Airport Company (ADAC) formed a joint venture and undertaking the Nibras Al Ain Aerospace Park in the eastern oasis town of Al Ain, UAE.
The project involves the construction of aviation city spans 2,500ha. It also includes construction of industrial projects, business offices, office facilities, mixed-use residential zones complemented with world-class community services and amenities, five km specifically allocated to the aerospace industry the second phase include construction of aerostructures manufacturing area of 60,000 m2 and other related infrastructure.
The project will be developed in nine phases over a period of 50years.
The first phase consists of building the infrastructure. Construction work of the phase started in 2010 and completed in 2016.
The second phases will start in early 2018 and expected to complete by the end of 2020.
In April 2015, Mubadala has issued expressions of interest to design and build the Nibras Medium Voltage Power Cable Supply and Installation for the project. The scope includes the fast track design and build of a medium voltage power cable supply and installation to serve part of the Nibras Aerospace Park.
In November 2015, GE Aviation and Mubadala signed a Heads of Agreement for the formation of a GEnx engine MRO (Maintenance, repair and operations) facility in the aerospace park.
Tristar Engineering and construction is appointed as a construction contractor. Mott MacDonald Group appointed as pipeline installation sub-contractor.
In April 2016, Bloomscape is appointed as Landscape Architect.
Planning activities are underway for the second phase. Construction is expected to commence in 2018 and complete by 2020.
The project includes construction of an aerospace park over an area of 2,500ha in AL Ain, UAE.
The US$10,073 million project also includes the following:
