Airports Corporation of Vietnam(ACV) is undertaking an expansion of a domestic terminal at Tan Son Nhat International airport in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
The project will expand current domestic terminal by a lounge for passengers boarding a bus to their flight, along with the technical area of 500m2. The airport expansion will be conducted in two phases.
The first phase will include a new 2,140m2 new section comprising of check-in rows, luggage carousels, and offices. It will also feature four airport body scanners, six boarding gates, and six baggage scanning systems.
The second phase includes a waiting area at the domestic terminal to be enlarged by 2,000m2 along with the technical area and parking area.
In April 2015, CNA-HTE Vietnam Co Ltd (CNAHTE), a subsidiary of CNA Group Ltd (CNA) has signed a letter of intent (LoI) with Vietstar Airlines for US$70 million to perform Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) contract.
The Hoa Binh Construction and Real Estate Corporation (HBC) won the contract for the first phase of the project to expand the T2 International Terminal of Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City in May 2015. The contract is worth US$27.5 million.
In July 2015, construction work commenced.
In January 2016, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) allocated additional 20ha of land for the project.
In October 2016, construction works were completed on the first phase.
In February 2017, ACV is conducting a discussion with Ministry of Transport on the expansion the airport before developing a final plan for the second phase of the project.
Planning activities are underway for the second phase.
The project involves the construction of a terminal on 20ha of land with a capacity to handle 13 million passengers per annum in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
The US$105 million project includes the following:
1. Construction of a 39,500m2 of passenger terminal building
2. Construction of a cargo terminal building
3. Construction of a warehouse
4. Construction of a sewerage treatment plant
5. Construction of parking facilities
6. Construction of related infrastructure facilities
