ACT Government (ACT) is undertaking the Government Public Service Office Building project in Canberra, Australia.
The project involves the construction of two buildings on 9,000m2 of land. It includes 20,000m2 five-story office space, a 12 story building comprises of four story 130 room hotel, seven story office space, 550 car parking spaces, child care facilities, a dining precinct, a gymnasium and the installation of elevators and safety systems.
ACT invited expressions of interests (EOI) from private developers for two options, to build a new building or to redevelop the building, with August 20, 2014 as the submission date. Eleven companies registered interest and six were shortlisted to submit detailed tenders.
In July 2014, new office block plans received approvals because just one company has registered interest in refurbishing an existing office building.
In August 2014, ten companies have submitted their Expression of Interest (EOI) for the construction of a new building, they are identified as; Capital Property Group, Cbus Property, Crafted, Dexus Property Group, Grocon Development Group, Hindmarsh Development, ISPT Super Property, Leighton Properties, Lend Lease Development, Morris Property Group and Walker Corporation.
Cox Architects has been appointed as an architect for the project.
Six companies were shortlisted to submit detailed tenders from Eleven companies who showed interest in the bidding.
In July 2016, Capital Property Group is appointed as a construction contractor for the project.
Pre-construction works are underway. Construction works are expected to begin by early 2018 and slated for completion by the third quarter of 2020.
