Allete Clean Energy (ACE), a subsidiary of Allete Inc, is undertaking the construction of the Morton and Mercer Counties Wind Farm project in Morton and Mercer counties, North Dakota, the US.
The project involves the construction of a 100MW Wind farm on a 4,856ha of land. It includes the construction of a substation, wind towers, a 26km of access roads and other related infrastructure, the installation of 51 wind turbines, generators, transformers and the laying of transmission lines.
Out of 50 turbines, 40 turbines are proposed for Morton County and 10 will be located in Mercer County.
In October 2011, ACE filed a letter of intent with the North Dakota Public Service Commission to build the wind farm.
In August 2012, ACE received a construction permit to build the project from North Dakota Public Service Commission.
In March 2017, ACE signed a power purchase agreement(PPA) with Xcel Energy for 20 years.
