The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is planning to undertake Greenfield Airport Project in Tamil Nadu, India.
The project involves the construction of an airport on 2,023ha of land and will be developed in phases.
It includes the construction of four runways, cafeteria, parking facility, terminal building, access roads and other related facilities, and the installation of safety systems.
International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) appointed Louis Berger Group Inc Co. and JICA to conduct study for the project. ICAO completed the feasibility study for two runways of new airport as earlier proposed and submitted report to the AAI in August 2011.
As of June 2017, AAI dropped plans at Sriperumbudur and now identifying three to four more sites for the project implementation.Study activities for the selection of construction site are underway.
