World textile and apparel trade and production trends: Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia and Turkey, August 2018

In Egypt, textile and clothing imports increased in 2017, reflecting increases in exports to most of Egypt's major foreign markets during the year. In Morocco, clothing exports and production increased in 2017— reflecting strong sales in the EU and the USA—but textile production fell. There was an increase in textile and clothing exports from Tunisia in 2017, and production of textiles, clothing and leather products also increased following declines in the previous two years. Meanwhile, textile and clothing exports from Turkey increased in 2017, reflecting increases in exports to the EU and the USA.
