Pigments Procurement in the US
This report is intended to assist buyers of pigments. Pigments are dry powders used to add color to products such as paints, inks, textiles and cosmetics. These powders come in a variety of colors and are made from different metal bases, including iron oxide, titanium dioxide, copper and cobalt. This report covers a variety of different types of pigments but focuses on pigments made from titanium dioxide, which is the most commonly used pigment type in the United States. This report excludes dyes, the difference being that pigments are suspensions and dyes are solutions. Pigments are most often purchased by cosmetic and beauty product manufacturers, paint manufacturers and textile mills.
