This report covers the U.S. retail market for tea and ready-to-drink tea. The retail tea market is composed of four major categories. The largest of these, by far, consists of ready-to-drink tea—canned and bottled shelf-stable tea-based beverages. The second largest category is loose tea and tea bags, packaged for future brewing, and includes herbal and specialty teas. Tea mixes and concentrates for iced tea, chai, yerba maté, or other flavored hot tea beverages are the third largest category, with about 5 percent of the market. Finally, refrigerated tea drinks are a small but rapidly growing segment.
