Analysis by Region - Europe - France

We have slashed our 2023 France growth forecast as eurozone recession risks mount, with higher-for-longer inflation, possible gas rationing in the winter, and monetary tightening all having a faster and greater impact than initially anticipated. We now see economic growth of 2.3% in 2022, 0.3ppts lower than last month, and only 1.1% in 2023, 1pt down from last month. We've also raised our inflation forecast to 5.3% this year and 2% in 2023. Moreover, risks to growth are tilted to the downside.
