Macro - Country Economic Forecasts - Yemen, Rep
The United Nations (UN) have brokered the first nationwide truce in six years between the Saudi-led coalition and the Houthi rebels in Yemen. Commencing with the holy month of Ramadan, the truce offers encouraging signs for peace, with more fuel flowing through the Hudaydah ports, fewer civilian casualties, and preparations for commercial flights for the first time since 2016 from Sana’a airport. We expect the outlook to improve significantly over the next few years as the ceasefire should allow activity to resume. We expect GDP to grow by 1.6% in 2022 and by 3%-4% in 2023-2026.
