Country Economic Forecasts - Tunisia

Country Economic Forecasts - Tunisia
Real GDP growth was revised upwards to 2.6% in 2018 (from 2.1% previously) thanks to strong tourist inflows and higher than expected agricultural production. However, labour protests continue to present risks to the outlook as high unemployment, rising inflation and poor working conditions fuel social tensions and slow the pace of fiscal reforms. The latter area has seen some improvement over the past quarter, facilitating a narrowing of the fiscal deficit over the past few months, but the external position continues to suffer from rising global oil prices and strong import demand.
