Country Economic Forecasts - Senegal

GDP rose 6.4% y/y in Q2 2017, up from 5.1% in Q1, giving average growth of 5.7% in H1, a little below our initial expectation. As a result, we have lowered our 2017 growth forecast slightly to 6.3% from 6.7% in August. But we expect growth to remain buoyant as the authorities continue to invest in infrastructure and implement structural reforms to improve the business environment. And the momentum in the services sector is expected to be maintained amid the ongoing formalisation of the economy, while the agricultural sector is expected to continue to benefit from efforts to achieve food self-sufficiency.
