Country Economic Forecasts - Honduras
Economic growth in Honduras is estimated to have slowed to 3.9% in 2018, but this is still faster than we anticipated in the middle of the year. Political turmoil concerning the disputed re-election of President Hernández appears to have been short-lived, while firm private consumption growth has helped to offset 2018’s poor export performance. However, perceptions of government corruption continue to undermine faith in the political system, and tough fiscal measures to combat the deficit will continue to dampen growth going forward.
