Country Economic Forecasts - Guinea

After two years of weak economic growth because of the Ebola epidemic, GDP grew 5.2% in 2016 on the back of a strong performance in mining. And growth is expected to have accelerated to 6.2% in 2017 following the finalisation of mining code. In addition, Guinea successfully completed an IMF programme for the first time in its history and a new economic and social development plan (PNDES), aimed at boosting the economy and governance, is expected to win IMF support in the form of a three-year extended credit facility. The medium-term outlook is favourable, with growth seen rising to 6.7% in 2018 and then 6.8% in 2019-20.
