Country Economic Forecasts - Colombia
April’s monthly activity release confirms that Colombia is seeing its sharpest-ever quarterly GDP contraction in Q2, with the broad-based deterioration reflecting stringent lockdowns in the month. Mobility constraints eased slightly throughout May, with preliminary indicators showing some signs of a rebound, and we expect modest improvements in the upcoming months. However, a harsher-than-expected deterioration in the labour market and extended quarantine policies have forced us to once again revise down our 2020 real GDP growth forecast to -6%, from -5.2% previously.
