Set retarders used in concrete pavement construction allows more time for plastic grooving or texturing of concrete pavements. Retarding admixtures also help in reducing cold joints in two-course paving as well as during the event of equipment breakdown.

The combination of inorganic and organic substances causing reduction in water content to give a higher workability at the same water content is termed as plasticizer admixture. The usage of plasticizers in the construction industry has been experiencing healthy growth from several years due its properties such as decreasing water to cement ratio with increased workability.
The other segment in the concrete admixtures industry covers materials such as slag, rice husk ash, hydration control agent, and corrosion inhibitor.
