Voluntourism Worldwide - April 2016

Voluntourism Worldwide - April 2016

"‘Voluntourism’ is a relatively new term in the tourism lexicon and has differing definitions. It is a label that is most commonly applied to a holiday that fuses tourism and voluntary work. While voluntourism is generally considered in the context of volunteering overseas, opportunities for this type of travel also exist within many domestic tourism industries. The terms ‘volunteer tourism’, ‘volunteer holidays’ and ‘volunteer travel’ are also used interchangeably with voluntourism."

- Jessica Kelly, Senior Tourism Analyst
