Svenska Handelsbanken AB (SHB or “the group”) is a universal bank, which provides a range of banking services including commercial and investment banking services, property finance, investment, fund and asset management services. Additionally, the group provides leasing and financing for capital goods; custody services; life insurance products; and other financial services. The group operates through a network of subsidiaries primarily in the Nordic region and also in other European countries, the US and South East Asia. It is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden and employed about 11,184 people during 2011. The group recorded revenues of SEK34,112 million ($5,264.8 million) during the financial year ended December 2011 (FY2011), an increase of 4.7% over FY2010. The operating profit of the group was SEK16,536 million ($2,552.2 million) in FY2011, an increase of 12% over FY2010.
