Commenting on the report, an analyst from Technavio’s team said: “The cloud hosts thousands of servers in multiple locations. A hypervisor, also known as virtual machine manager, allows multiple operating systems to share a single hardware host. This helps cloud administrators to determine the trustworthiness of remote servers in the cloud. With the number of servers growing worldwide, managing all of them has become a complicated and challenging prospect. This creates issues in the entire IT security landscape of an organization.”

According to the report, openStack is fast gaining popularity for developing cloud platforms. IT departments implementing OpenStack can choose from a number of similar competing solutions within the same infrastructure. There are no vendor lock-in issues when switching to another supplier.

Further, the report states that deploying OpenStack requires a high level of technical expertise. Finding suppliers that can troubleshoot technical issues during deployment can be challenging. There is a gap between the rates at which enterprises are embracing OpenStack technology and the talent pool of OpenStack professionals. An OpenStack enterprise adoption survey from May 2015 found that 45% of global enterprises using OpenStack lacked internal IT skills.
