IC Market in Japan 2015-2019
About IC market
Integrated chip (IC), also known as a microchip, is consists of interconnected electronic components such as capacitors, transistors, amplifiers, oscillators, computer memory, and timer. The market is divided into the following segments based on end-user applications:
Technavio Announces the Publication of its Research Report – IC Market in Japan 2015-2019
Technavio recognizes the following companies as the key players in the IC Market in Japan: Fujitsu, Renesas, Sharp, Sony and Toshiba
Other Prominent Vendors in the market are: Adamant Kogyo, Asahi Kasei Micro devices, DENSO, Fuji Electric, Hitachi, Mitsubishi Electric, Nippon Electric Company and Sanken Electric
Commenting on the report, an analyst from Technavio’s team said: “The IoT is the latest trend in the global technology arena. In simple terms, the IoT is connecting all essential home devices to the Internet. These includes cars, TVs, laptops, coffee makers, automated door locks, wearable devices, mobile phones and GPS-enabled pet trackers. The IoT would be able to connect billions of devices. Hence, future households will have many connected nodes, appliances that are inter-connected wirelessly, and together they will be able to sense the surrounding environment and act accordingly. Since, the trend of the IoT will be relevant in the future, its acute technological requirements would require sophisticated ICs for high powered performance. Thus, because Japan is an automotive and consumer electronics' key market around the globe, demand for improved ICs in the Japanese market is also expected to rise with the growing market presence of the IoT.”
According to the report, with improved technology, the consumer electronics segment, in its process of automation, is expected to use more ICs on every appliance than traditionally. Hence, the average number of semiconductor chips used on consumer appliances is set to rise. The emergence of automated consumer goods, including smart ACs, smart TVs with added functionalities that require specialized ICs, hi-tech kitchen appliances like electronic cookers, and color-changing smart LED lights, is expected to increase IC consumption in electronic devices. Therefore, though Japanese consumer electronics manufacturers are struggling, the era of automation in electronics is set to drive the IC market in Japan.
Further, the report states that increasing competition from international players is a major challenge affecting the growth of the market.
