Golf carts use deep cycle lead-acid batteries for motive propulsion and are different from the ones used in cars and trucks. Deep cycle batteries have thicker plates that are designed to deeply discharge utilizing the maximum capacity. These batteries are of two types:flooded and VRLA batteries. Based on the technology used, VRLA batteries are sub-divided into two segments:AGM and gel batteries. VRLA batteries are advanced batteries with in-built valves that control the gas pressure inside the battery. The electrolyte used is either absorbed or immobilized in a separator in the battery.
