Global Vascular Grafts Market 2017-2021
About Vascular Grafts
Vascular graft or vascular bypass is a surgical procedure for redirecting blood flow between organs by reconnecting the blood vessels. The procedure is performed to treat a diseased artery to facilitate normal blood flow. It is performed to treat ischemia (also known as abnormal blood flow) for providing the vascular access for hemodialysis patient. Often an autograft is also preferred to provide the vascular access. Grafts are made of teflon, dacron, and allograft.

Commenting on the report, an analyst from Technavio’s team said: “One trend in the market is technological improvements. Globally, the market is witnessing improvements/innovations in vascular grafts especially in terms of technology as well as material design and coating to overcome first-generation and pre-existing grafts limitations for treating various cardiovascular disorders.”
According to the report, one driver in the market is ubiquity of CVDs and other vascular disorder. The growing incidence of the cardiac and vascular disorder globally is alarming for the global health. Cardiac disorders such AAA has significantly increased in recent years and the rising mortality rate among the affected has gradually increasing among the affected individuals. For instance, in 2016 CDC estimated the growing mortality rate in the US was much alarming. CDC reported in 2014 the primary cause of 9,863 deaths in 2014 was due to Aortic aneurysms and the same cause have been the reason behind the 17,215 deaths in the United States in 2009.
Further, the report states that one challenge in the market is risks and complications associated with vascular grafting. Grafts-related complications contribute largely to the long-term mortality and morbidity rate. Various complications associated with vascular grafts surgery are infected vascular grafts, pseudo aneurysms and aortoenteric fistula. Although the complication after surgery is uncommon, but if occurs, it may lead to death. The infections remain the major complications which contributes to the higher mortality rate due to most of the untreated vascular graft infection cases due to low awareness. The infection may result in to graft thrombosis, hemorrhage, and overwhelming sepsis ischemia.
