Global Polyolefin Market 2017-2021
Polyolefins are the biggest class of commodity thermoplastics. These polymers are made of simple alkenes, which include ethylene, propylene, butenes, and pentenes, and their copolymers. Polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) are the two most widely used polyolefins in the world.
Technavio’s analysts forecast the global polyolefins market to grow at a CAGR of 7.48% during the period 2017-2021.

The report covers the present scenario and the growth prospects of the global thoracic surgery market for 2017-2021. To calculate the market size, the report considers the revenue generated from the sales of polyolefins in key applications in the automotive, construction, packaging, and consumer goods industries. The market is divided into the following segments based on geography:
Technavio Announces the Publication of its Research Report – Global Polyolefins Market 2017-2021
Technavio recognizes the following companies as the key players in the global polyolefins market: Arkema, CNPC, ExxonMobil, LyondellBasell, and SABIC
Other Prominent Vendors in the market are: Braskem, Borealis, Borouge, Chevron Phillips Chemical, Formosa Plastics, INEOS, Reliance Industries (RIL), Repsol, Sasol, Dow Chemical, and Total Plastics
Commenting on the report, an analyst from Technavio’s team said: “Green polyolefin is produced by effective sequestration of carbon dioxide in sugarcane. This helps in reducing greenhouse gas effect on global warming. The market for bio-based polyolefin is increasing due to combined efforts of manufacturers, consumers, and government officials for promoting development and acceptance of these products across the globe.”
According to the report, polyolefins are easy to color and mold. These are lightweight, non-porous, odorless materials. Polyolefins can absorb added color effectively and provide the same thermal stability to both hot and cold items. Advantages of packaging using polyolefin shrink film include cost efficiency, good product protection and preservation, and the ability to bundle multiple products in one. Increasing demand for polyolefin, primarily from the food packaging industry is expected to drive this market during the forecast period.
Further, the report states that most polyolefins (plastics) are made from oil and do not biodegrade. These are difficult to dispose of. There is no natural process that can absorb non-biodegradable plastic back to the biological cycle. These materials do not decompose like organic wastes. Plastics last for centuries, possibly forever.
