Technavio Announces the Publication of its Research Report – Global Motorcycle Advanced Driver Assistance System Market 2017-2021
Technavio recognizes the following companies as the key players in the global motorcycle advanced driver assistance system market: Continental, Bosch, BMW Motorrad, Honda, Ducati, Garmin and ZF Friedrichshafen.
Other Prominent Vendors in the market are: BWI, Motorcycle Cruise Controls, NXP Semiconductors, Suzuki and TVS Motor.
Commenting on the report, an analyst from Technavio’s team said: “One trend in the market is growing popularity of adaptive headlights in motorcycle. The headlight is the important component of the motorcycle to illuminate the road ahead during hours of darkness. However, the need to match the illumination of the road with speed as per the rider is never met by conventional headlights.”
According to the report, one driver in the market is increased adoption of ACC in motorcycles to complement use of motorcycle side-view assist system. ACC helps increase the efficiency in terms of performance and features over traditional cruise control. The presence of a backend unit in ACC ensures the monitoring of engine revolutions per minute (RPM) and speed signals, which are used to automatically adjust according to the terrain, contrary to traditional cruise control. ACC's control unit comprises three switches: ON/OFF, SET ACC, and RES DEC. The presence of these switches helps the rider to operate cruise control in an effective way according to the needs.
Further, the report states that one challenge in the market is development of frugal innovation of safety system through mechanical system. Motorcycle active safety system is the electronic device that prevents the motorcycle from skidding during sudden braking, acceleration, and leaning. However, the sophistication of design brings complexity to the device and increases the cost. For instance, motorcycle ABS costs about $176.8 in India, for only one wheel, and motorcycle TCS costs in the range of $250 to $2500. This created the barrier for its adoption in the emerging markets like India and China, which are the prominent markets for the motorcycle but are mainly dominated by low-powered motorcycles.
