According to the report, pressure on mobile operators to reduce costs will be a key driver for market growth. The mobile backhaul equipment market is competitive, and mobile operators are concerned about reducing costs and providing better services to consumers. Many mobile operators are rolling out new services to generate revenue and increase consumer usage to improve their profitability and maintain competitiveness with other players. These offerings require a corresponding increase in the backhaul network. IP and Ethernet mobile backhaul solutions are used to lower the cost of the growing mobile data traffic. For instance, Cisco provides ASR 901 routers. These routers are specially designed so that operators can reduce their backhaul operating costs. They also simplify their RAN and Ethernet access networks and enhance profitability.

Further, the report states that rapid technological advancements will be a challenge for the market. Operators are unable to keep abreast of the upgrades in technologies such as WiMAX, 4G/LTE, and 5G. They are not able to support new and advanced multimedia applications such as delivering high-quality video content, which require higher bandwidth.
