About LAS
LAS is also known as sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate. These colorless salts, with organic formula C12H25C6H4SO3Na, are commercially manufactured in the form of mixtures of related sulfonates and find usage in the production of heavy-duty cleaners, laundry powders, light-duty dish-washing liquids, and industrial and household cleaners. Owing to their superior bio-degradability and environmentally friendly characteristics, they are globally preferred as surfactants in the aforementioned applications. LAS is produced from benzene and linear paraffin feedstock, and requires the sulfonating of LAB with sulfur trioxide, with subsequent sodium hydroxide neutralization.
Technavio's analysts forecast the global LAS market to grow at a CAGR of 4.87 percent, in terms of revenue, over the period 2014-2019.
