About Gear Hobbing Machine
The manufacturing process used to cut tooth type geometries is known as hobbing. Hobbing is an important industrial process for gear manufacturing. The process is carried out using a hobbing machine with two skew spindles, one of these spindles is mounted with the hob while the other is mounted with a blank workpiece. Hobbing machines or hobbers, as they are commonly known, are fully automated machines. Since the hobbers are required to manufacture gears of different sizes ranging from tiny instrument gears to large marine gears, they are available in different sizes. A hobbing machine consists of a chuck, which holds the workpiece, a drive motor, and a hob mounted on a spindle. A hob is a cylindrical shaped cutting tool that cuts teeth into the workpiece.
Technavio’s analysts forecast the global gear hobbing machines market to grow at a CAGR of 2.65% during the period 2017-2021.

Technavio Announces the Publication of its Research Report – Global Gear Hobbing Machines Market 2017-2021
Technavio recognizes the following companies as the key players in the global gear hobbing machines market: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Gleason, Liebherr, Premier, and Aeromech Technologies.
Other Prominent Vendors in the market are: LMT Tools, Bourn & Koch, Samputensili, Monnier + Zahner, Strojimport, Chongqing Machine Tool, Zaozhuang Yi Xin Heavy Machine Tools, EMAG, VANGUARD, WTO, PRAEWEMA ANTRIEBSTECHNIK, Felsomat, Star SU, KLINGELNBERG, Koepfer America, and FFG Werke.
Commenting on the report, an analyst from Technavio’s team said: “The growing demand for superior-quality products has propelled companies to undertake automation in manufacturing. Investment in the global process automation is continuing to grow by more than 6% and is projected to surpass $100 billion by 2019. This growth is focused on areas such as technology, hardware, software, services, and the communication protocol used for automation.”
According to the report, the automotive industry is a primary end-user of machine tools, especially gears. The growth of the gear hobbing machines market is largely dependent on automobile and automotive component production. After the global recession of 2008-2009, the resurgence of the global automobile industry paved the way for the growth of the global machine tools market.
Further, the report states that a serious threat that has been looming over the global gear hobbing machines market is the slowly growing second-hand machines market. The US and Europe witnessed the closing down of many manufacturing industries owing to high labor cost and strict pollution laws, which resulted in the increased availability of second-hand machines from these regions. Since the manufacturing industries have moved to APAC owing to low-cost manufacturing in the region, the second-hand machines from the US and Europe are also finding their way into the region, especially in countries such as China, India, and Pakistan.
