Global Electric Transformer Market 2015- 2019
About Electric Transformer
Electric transformers are special devices used to step-up and step-down voltage in transmission and distribution applications. Transformers can be divided into two types: power transformers and distribution transformers. Power transformers are used in the high voltage transmission network as voltage step up devices. They operate at full load. Distribution transformers are used to distribute electric power at low voltages. They operate at lesser loads during a major part of the day. One of the major technical differences between power and distribution transformers is that power transformers’ primary winding is always connected in star and the secondary winding in delta, while distribution transformers’ primary winding is connected in delta and the secondary winding in star.
Technavio's analysts forecast the global electric transformer market to grow at a CAGR of 5.90% over the period 2015-2019.

Commenting on the report, an analyst from Technavio’s team said: “China and the US each accounted for 20% of the total power generation capacity worldwide in 2014. In 2011, the global power generation capacity was roughly 5,550 million KW. China's capacity is set to increase by 3% YoY until 2035, which will encourage growth of the worldwide power generation capacity, as well. Since electrical transformers are required for effective power distribution, this bodes well for the overall transformer market.”
According to the report, developed countries in are replacing old transformers to ensure continuous and efficient supply of electricity. This trend is predicted to increase during the forecast period.
Further, the report states that lack of product differentiation in the market is affecting the market growth tremendously.
