About Deep Cycle Batteries
Deep cycle batteries can be classified into FLA and VRLA batteries. One of the advantages of deep cycle VRLA batteries is that they can be substituted in any FLA battery application, where FLA batteries may or may not deliver the best of results. Deep cycle VRLA batteries provide ideal solutions because of their unique benefits and features. These batteries are colloquially called sealed lead-acid batteries.
Technavio’s analysts forecast the global deep cycle batteries market to grow at a CAGR of 4.23% during the period 2017-2021.

Commenting on the report, an analyst from Technavio’s team said: “The telecom industry is growing at a faster pace particularly in the developing nations. More telecom towers have been built in remote locations where the grid connectivity is bad. Hence, remote towers need efficient energy supply that can be provided by a combination of renewable energy sources and the diesel generators for backup. The focus is on hybrid power systems as they have less impact on the environment. This is because hybrid power systems produce less carbon emissions when compared with the legacy power systems that use a different combination of energy types.”
According to the report, in developed countries such as the US, golf carts have become ideal for the elderly population. On an average, a golf cart can achieve a top speed of 25 mph, which is a safe speed. Other than their use in golf centers, these carts are quite handy for chores such as buying groceries and for commuting very short distances. In the US, many elderly people residing in states such as California and Florida are shifting from their gas-powered vehicles to golf carts.
Further, the report states that forklift batteries are used in warehouse applications where the operations extend for three or more shifts in a day. These batteries need to be replaced or charged more than once in a day, which increases the complexity during logistics management. Conventional batteries such as lead-acid battery require a long recharging period, hold less energy with each charge, and have to be replaced every two or three years. To overcome such difficulties, fuel cell systems are used.
