About Cable Glands
Cable glands are used to provide a safe passage to electrical cables entering or exiting any enclosure or at the point of connection. These devices help secure the wires or cables against damage and can even be used to seal the internal environment of any electrical equipment against external factors such as dirt, liquids, and gases. A typical cable gland usually consists of a lock nut, washer, body, seal, and sealing nut. A double compression cable gland consists of the following components: check nut, entry sealing ring, nipple entry part, inner sealing ring, armor clamping cone, armor clamping ring, main gland body, outer seal ring, and compression nut. Cable glands are most commonly used at the entry points of electrical junction boxes and cable connectors. These glands are bolted at the entry/exit points in junction boxes and at the entry of the connector, and the cable passes through the cable gland without having any actual connection to the enclosure. The demand for cable glands mostly arises from industrial or commercial end-users, where maintaining the electrical wires and keeping them isolated is of prime importance.
