About Bicycle Crank Motor

A crank motor also called a mid-drive motor or a central motor, is a centralized motor, which is connected to a crankshaft through interlocking gears. The gear at the bottom of the motor locks into the gear ring, which is placed on top of the crankshaft. The crank motor is connected to a battery, which in turn, is connected to an electronic control unit. The battery is concealed. A switch to start and stop the motor is routed to the control unit. Based on the motor power of the crank motors, the market has been segmented into three product types, namely 200W, 300W, and 400W.

Crank motors, also known as mid-drive motors, are popular in Europe and North America. They are slowly gaining popularity over hub motors in APAC.
