Global Automotive Cylinder Head Market 2016-2020
About Automotive Cylinder Head
An automotive cylinder head is the end cover in an internal combustion engine. It is used against the piston, which compresses the cylinder's contents. In an internal combustion engine, the cylinder head sits above the cylinders on top of the cylinder block. It closes the top of the cylinder, which forms the combustion chamber. This joint is sealed by a head gasket. In most engines, the head also allows air and fuel to be fed into and out of the cylinder. The head can also be used to mount valves, spark plugs, and fuel injectors. A cylinder head needs to be robust to withstand high pressure and temperature, while retaining its shape and form to seal the cylinder block through the head gasket.
Technavio’s analysts forecast the global automotive cylinder head market to grow at a CAGR of 0.63% during the period 2016-2020.

Technavio Announces the Publication of its Research Report – Global Automotive Cylinder Head Market 2016-2020
Technavio recognizes the following companies as the key players in the global automotive cylinder head market: Sandvik Coromant, Nemak, Linamar, and ThyssenKrupp.
Other Prominent Vendors in the market are: All-heads Services, Brodix, Elringklinger, Federal-Mogul, and Parker Hannifin.
Commenting on the report, an analyst from Technavio’s team said: “Engine downsizing has become a major trend in the last couple of years, especially by European manufacturers. This will have a positive impact on the demand for supporting technology, such as turbo chargers and variable valve train systems. Stringent vehicle norms for lower CO2 emissions and higher fuel efficiency is fueling the drive for engine downsizing. The German automaker, Volkswagen, and the American brand, Ford, are keen on implementing engine-downsizing strategies.”
According to the report, the growth of the automotive industry (especially in passenger cars and commercial vehicles) is also powered by financing flexibility options, which increases consumer spending confidence and sales. In countries like India and China (where 75%-80% of new vehicle purchases are based on car loans), car financing is a major driver pushing market expansion.
Further, the report states that as the market for EVs grows in the future and becomes more competitive, it will pose a significant challenge to the manufacturers of vehicles running on ICEs in terms of market dominance and even threaten their existence. The American EV manufacturer Tesla has demonstrated the massive potential of electric cars in the global automobile market. Tesla offers superior performance with great drivability, lower running costs (potentially free fuel from solar power), and significantly lower environmental impact.
