Commenting on the report, an analyst from Technavio’s team said: “One trend that is propelling market growth is the rising demand for disposable resuscitators. Medical personnel worldwide are opting for disposable anesthesia resuscitators over traditional reusable resuscitators. Reusable resuscitators present risks of cross-contamination, resulting in hospital-acquired infections or nosocomial infections. The CDC estimated that about 1.7 million people in the US have these infections every year, of which about 99,000 individuals die. Some examples of disposable resuscitators include Ambu SPUR II - Disposable Resuscitators and Hudson RCI Lifesaver Disposable Manual Resuscitator.”

According to the report, a key growth driver is the rise in the number of surgeries. Medical facilities perform various surgeries in the areas of orthopedic, trauma, ophthalmology, endoscopy, laparoscopy, and cosmetics. These surgeries help treat diseases such as hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, urological diseases, spinal abnormalities, brain tumors, and orthopedic deformities. Medical facilities perform most of these surgeries in an outpatient setting, as it costs 37% less compared to in-patient setting. The rise in surgical treatment has increased the demand for operating room equipment and consumables such as anesthesia resuscitators in hospitals, clinics, and ambulatory surgical centers.

Further, the report states that one challenge that could hamper market growth is the rising number of product recalls.
