The wire is then drawn where internal soundness is ensured. The wire is tested to ensure surface quality, feedability, and welding performance. The value chain of the aluminum industry consists of both upstream and downstream companies. The operation of the upstream companies includes mining (extraction of bauxite) and refining (deriving alumina from bauxite). Bayer process is a commonly used process for extracting bauxite. Refined alumina is subjected to electrolysis to obtain liquid aluminum.
