Worldwide SMB Channel Preferences: Developed Versus Developing Countries — The Shift to Service Providers

This IDC study examines the changing IT solution channel preferences of small and midsize businesses in developed and developing regions, with country-level detail. Based on a survey of 2,189 SMBs in seven countries, this study also examines future channel plans, the growing use of multiple sources, and the increasing appeal of service providers to obtain advanced technology solutions.

"The mix of sources used by SMBs to obtain advanced technology continues to evolve," noted Ray Boggs, vice president of SMB research at IDC. "SMBs in developing regions are especially interested in service providers as potential sources of technology. Midsize firms, those with 100–999 employees, are actively using multiple sources to obtain technology, with a mix of traditional VARs as well as cloud-service providers becoming increasingly common."
