Worldwide Procurement Market Shares, 2015: The Year of Connected Commerce
This IDC study discusses the worldwide market for procurement. This market appears to have stalled, reaching $3.9 billion in 2015. Much of this stagnation is based on the U.S. currency's increased strength to other markets and the movement from on-premises procurement to public cloud offerings and modern easy-to-use procurement solutions."The procurement process is central to most organizations as they seek to source and procure goods and services for their own company and for their supply chains; ultimately impacting the businesses own customers. Organizations continue to look at cloud solutions that make it easier to shop online, similar to the consumer experience. The consumer commerce market has set a bar for procurement software to emulate, including 3D items/products, specifications, capabilities, and warranty information available prior to purchase commitment," says Mickey North Rizza, program vice president, Enterprise Applications.
