Western European Services Forecast, 2017-2022
This IDC Market Forecast presents IDC's 2017-2022 forecast for the development of 14 foundation markets — 12 IT services foundations and 2 business services foundation with 5 BPO-related sub-foundation markets — across the 16 Western European countries. The forecast shows that there are plenty of opportunities for continued growth for service providers despite overall slow demand growth. "Improving operational efficiency and driving better customer experience are among the top priorities of most digital transformation initiatives, and these will drive the adoption of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotic process automation, augmented and virtual reality, and the Internet of Things," said Arun Dani, senior research analyst, IDC in London, the U.K. "These technologies are powerful individually, but they work best when combined, and together they have the potential to become a strategic tool for implementing business transformation in the coming five years.""2.3% growth in services doesn't sound like a lot," added Mette Ahorlu, research director, IDC in Copenhagen, Denmark. "But this covers varied trends, including areas of hot demand, and there will continue to be plenty of opportunities for services providers in the near future. As new models for collaboration with clients evolve, interest in having services companies run clients' technology environments is not disappearing. Rather, it is evolving toward more digital-centric managed services, with the shape, size, and number of contracts set to change in the future."
