Western Europe Services Forecast, 2017-2021

The European Services Forecast presents IDC's forecast for the development 2016-2021 in 18 foundation markets — 12 IT services foundations and 6 business services foundation — across the 16 Western European countries. The forecast shows that there are plenty of opportunities for continued growth for service providers. While growth rates vary, there is a generally positive mood and acceptance of the need for services among Europe's organizations, and all market segments — except traditional comprehensive IT outsourcing deals — will continue to grow throughout whole period. "There are a lot of growth potential in the European services market," said Mette Ahorlu, research director, IDC European Services. "But for vendors, it is absolutely necessary to shift focus on 3rd-Platform-related services. Organizations are thinking cloud-first and looking for efficiency in operations, and increasingly also thinking about how to innovate and serve their clients better —services vendors need to help them on that journey. Legacy services will not disappear overnight, but the transformation of services happens faster than we have previously expected."
