Western Europe SMB IT Spending Forecast, 2018–2022

This IDC Market Forecast examines the IT spending of SMBs, which we define as companies with 1–499 employees in a country. IT spending forecasts for the SMB segment are provided and analyzed by size band and by vertical market at the regional level. For the purpose of this study, data is provided for five company size bands (1-9 employees, 10-99 employees, 100-499 employees, 500-999 employees, 1,000+ employees) to enable comparisons with the large enterprise segment and the total IT market."The digital transformation journey has different forms. From the journey to multicloud and hybrid cloud to the adoption of and combination of Innovation Accelerators such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and blockchain, SMBs know that they need to keep up with the changes and challenges imposed by the digital economy, carefully examining the best choice for them not to lose the chance to keep the pace with innovation," said Carla La Croce, senior research analyst, IDC's Customer Insight and Analysis team. "SMBs are rethinking their legacy systems that anchor them to traditional and old environments. As everything is moving toward platforms, SMB investments in software are faster than in other technologies."
