Western Europe Platform-as-a-Service Forecast, 2017–2021
The Western European public cloud platform-as-a-service (PaaS) market reached $2.3 billion in 2016 and is expected to have a 26.8% CAGR in 2017-2021. The hosted private PaaS market was valued at $0.9 billion in 2016 and is projected to have a 21.3% CAGR in the same period. This IDC study details the 2017–2021 revenue market size and demand growth rates for the platform-as-a-service (PaaS) market in Western Europe. It provides a qualitative and quantitative view of both the public PaaS and hosted private PaaS. "The public PaaS market is expected to expand faster than its hosted private equivalent, largely because it will be difficult for IT services providers to match the broad portfolio capabilities and immense scale of the top public cloud platform vendors in the market," said George Mironescu, research lead, IDC European Cloud Platforms. "Three key attributes define the most common end-user demands for cloud platforms in Europe: application and data integration, automation and speed of provisioning, and price/total cost of ownership. To be more successful in the region, cloud platform providers should consider these aspects when defining their market propositions."
